One of American music's most uniquely original voices, Low's Alan Sparhawk isn't to be argued with.
So when the songwriter caught a performance by a then-unknown Haley Bonar, Sparhawk insisted that she come out on tour with him.
Since then, Bonar has released a string of albums, developing into a quite special artist. Sadly, few records in her catalogue have been directly available in the UK, meaning that she approaches British audiences as an almost complete unknown.
Well, that's about to change. Graveface are to give 'Last War' a full release, with the album set to drop on June 9th.
Ahead of this, Clash can unveil new cut 'Woke Up In My Future'. There's so much more to Haley Bonar's songcraft than meets the eye, with her surreal wit matched against a sparse sonic palette.
Minimalist in the best possible way, the directness of her approach recalls those early PJ Harvey albums - but shot through with an American viewpoint, of course.
