A new partnership between Dan ‘The Automator’ Nakamura and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Got A Girl is a fresh departure for both.
Specialising in moody pop music with more than a hint of classic songwriting, the pair recently wrapped up work on their debut album.
Due for release on July 21st, 'I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now' matches contagious pop melodies to something quite dark indeed. Inspired by the recipe which fuelled the very best in 60s French pop - think Gainsbourg and Berkin - Got A Girl is a very modern update on this template.
"It was really serendipitous," Winstead says, "Dan was looking to do something that was inspired by yé-yé girls, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, all of that – which, at the time, I was thoroughly engrossed with myself. So it was quite perfect."
