Premiere: Genuflex – ‘The Last Gods’ (East India Youth Remix)

White Rose Movement man strikes out solo…

Remember London’s White Rose Movement? They had a moment, fizzed and popped and then disappeared. Some might say they had several moments – but now, they’re a footnote from an era when Britpop was in the process of giving way to something more challenging, something more confrontational and combustive.

WRM’s frontman Finn Vine hasn’t vanished with his old band, though – he’s back, as Genuflex, and is now exploring a very fine line in powerfully emotive electronic torch songs. The single ‘The Last Gods’ is due for release real soon on Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label, and we’ve a cracking remix as a premiere for you, right here.

As long admirers of East India Youth, we were made up to see the man otherwise known as William Doyle nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize with his ‘Total Strife Forever’ LP. And it’s he who reworks ‘The Last Gods’ here. Colour us impressed. Get it into your ears, already.
