Premiere: Duke Garwood – ‘Sal’s Paradise’ (Padre Remix)

Gritty blues sound gets re-worked...

Duke Garwood is blessed with the sort of voice that feels like it speaks to you from the past.

Gritty, imbued with immense character, each guttural word seems to fall like rain from an old steeple.

New album 'Garden Of Ashes' is out now, with a full UK tour kicking off later today (February 9th).

Recent single 'Sal's Paradise' is an atmospheric introduction, with Duke Garwood wrapping his voice around those perpetually unwinding lyrics.

Padre – an older and wider incarnation of Pete Lazonby – steps in on remix duties, and provides a renewed setting for Duke Garwood's lyricism.

Padre explains: "I can only work with singers who inhabit their lyrics. Duke is one of that rare breed. I had some bendy synths with a cheeky beat that felt like a perpetual downward spiral. I knew they would work the moment I heard the original track. The whole thing conjures a kind of swampy, satanic Eden for me. Full of steamy low hanging flora. I need a very clear mood and meaning to be able to finish any track. Much of modern life is an assault on meaning. Like Duke, I don't want to be just another liar."

Tune in now.
