Swindon is renowned for many things, but sadly music isn't one of them.
As a creative hub the town can be somewhat lacking, with the pull of London proving too great for many young minds.
Yet newcomers Colour The Atlas opted to return to their hometown to focus on fresh material. Mew EP 'Opaline' continues their growth, with the band fusing soulful songcraft with down tempo production.
It's a step forward, mature but without losing sight of the band's nascent appeal. "We have grown up and changed a lot, and our music is definitely growing with us," explains vocalist Jess Hall. "Musically 'Opaline' is a lot more advanced. We've spent so much more time on it, hours and hours spent on each specific instrumental part, and there are more layers than before."
Out on October 13th via RCA, Clash is able to premiere 'That Sound'. Perhaps it's an apt description for the band as a whole – soothing yet emotive, it's a blur of influences which is best categorised as 'that sound'.
