Premiere: Blueprint Blue – Rattlesnakes

Listen to it now...

These days, perfection is within the price range of most musicians.

After all, a laptop plus a (no doubt cracked) version of Pro Tools aren't exactly difficult things to come by.

So in many ways it's a far braver move to leave in the imperfections, the flaws, the mistakes. Blueprint Blue have created a stir in some quarters over the past year, with their demo tapes revealing a precocious, emotionally engrossing sense of songcraft.

Recording at The Horrors' East London studio, the band have now completed work on a four track EP 'Undertoad'. Engineered by Joshua Hayward (The Horrors) and Jerome Watson (The History Of Apple Pie), the process was a conscious attempt to replicate their live sound as closely as possible.

Introducing the EP, Blueprint Blue said: "We wanted to capture what our shows are like so it was recorded completely live and we kept in all the mistakes, bum notes and snare buzz. The first three songs are about either being a parent or having parents. The last song is about having panic attacks. The title 'Undertoad' is a reference to John Irving’s novel 'The world according to Garp'."

'Rattlesnakes' has a languid country feel, somehow connecting East London to Nashville in an entirely natural way.

'Undertoad' is set to be released on May 5th through Italian Beach Babes. (Pre-order)
