As far as introductions go, 'Shut Your Mouth' is a bit, well, brusque.

As a statement, it's more about shutting down opinion than inviting it, securing space for oneself rather than permitting others to expand.

But perhaps that's exactly why Bête Noire used it to adorn their debut EP. Released last year, it marked the London five piece out as supreme purveyors of fraught, sinister indie rock.

Since then, Bête Noire have played shows across the capital and beyond, focussing on their next step.

New single 'D Level Dirt' is the result. Matching the glamorous melancholy of early Interpol to the intensity of The Fall, it's a frenetic piece of distorted, black clad rock 'n' roll.
