Premiere: Axes Confirm New Album, Share ‘Junior’ Video

London based math rockers return...

One of the sad facets about so much math rock is that a lot of it follows a similar template.

All fast tempos, jagged riffs and soaring guitar solos, it can be reductive and – if we're brutally honest – a little wearying.

Axes though, are different. Perhaps it's the group's pedigree, with their members boasting over 40 years of experience in punk/hardcore projects.

Formed in 2011, the band is a vehicle for all manner of fresh ideas. Sure, they don't have a singer but Axes' brand of instrumental rock speaks loud and clear.

New album 'Glory' is due to be released on November 3rd via Big Scary Monsters, with Clash able to premiere a lil preview.

'Junior' shifts through several phases, with its tropical leanings clear from the off. Rhythmically diverse, it's pummelling percussion is matched to a continually engaging wit.

Check it out now.
