Phoenix For American TV
French stars to preview new album
French electro boffins Phoenix have confirmed they will play a short set on American TV show 'Saturday Night Live'.
An American institution, 'Saturday Night Live' has provided the launching pad for countless stars of film and music. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd began their 'Blues Brothers' sketches on the show, while Bill Murray began his career acting in sketches on 'Saturday Night Live'.
The show remains one of the most popular on American television. Last year's Presidential election provided plenty of comedic cannon fodder, with Sarah Paine making a high profile appearance on the show.
French group Phoenix are on the comeback trail and have been rewarded with a slot on the program. The band have confirmed they will play two brand new tracks on the show - '1901' and 'Lisztomania'.
Taken from their forthcoming album 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' the tracks are some of the group's best to date. Working with Ed Banger records, in a previous incarnation Phoenix worked with Daft Punk thus completing the French electro mafia.
The slot is a huge boost to the band's profile in the United States. One of the most watched shows in the country, previous groups to be invited onto the show include some of music's biggest stars including U2, Coldplay, Radiohead and more.
Phoenix are set to appear on 'Saturday Night Live' on April 4th. The group will release their new album 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' on May 26th.
