Indie stars Pete Doherty and The Rumble Strips have joined the All-Star line-up of 'David Gest...My Life! A Musical Concert Extravaganza'.
Well knock us over with a feather. In a shock new move Pete Doherty is set to line up alongside a host of star names in the new musical penned by none other than David Gest.
'David Gest...My Life! A Musical Concert Extravaganza' was penned by the outrageous star, who burst back into public life via the survival show 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'. Having a nationwide run earlier this year the show received warm reviews, but is now set to return with some shock additions.
Pete Doherty released his debut solo album earlier this year, but the indie star is set to line up alongside some stars of the theatre for the upcoming show. Doherty is set to take part in an all star rendition of as an yet un-named soul classic.
The show will contain an appearance by Dennis Edwards, the one time lead singer of The Temptations. A Motown legend, he will be joined by a huge cast for a run through one of the group's many era-defining hits.
Doherty won't be the only indie star on display. The Rumble Strips recently released their second album 'Welcome To The Walk Alone' which boasted production from Mark Ronson.
The twin talents will line up alongside a host of others to run through a unique Michael Jackson tribute. Gest claimed “the tribute to my good friend Michael Jackson will be a heartfelt salute to a person who had a great presence in my life."
"These are the artists who inspired Michael Jackson musically as he had a great love of traditional soul music. Adding some of today's contemporary musicians is just the icing on the cake."
‘David Gest...My Life! A Musical Concert Extravaganza’ will play at the HMV Apollo Hammersmith on Wednesday 14th October 2009.
