Pearl Jam For Outside Lands
California event confirms line up
Grunge legends Pearl Jam are among the first names confirmed for this summer's Outside Lands festival in California.
Led by Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam are now reaching their 20th anniversary. The group enjoyed massive success as part of the grunge boom, which led to criticism by some - including Kurt Cobain who famously loathed the band.
However Pearl Jam weathered the storm to become one of American rock music's most successful, and most acclaimed, acts. The band seem prepared to look back now, with a recent re-issue of debut album 'Ten' the first in a complete overhaul of their back catalogue.
The band will be joined by hip hop brats The Beastie Boys. Emerging from New York, the rap trio have become one of the biggest bands on the planet. However they are keen not to forget their roots and seminal album 'Paul's Boutique' is due to get the expansive treatment on a new re-issue.
Other exciting additions to the bill include TV On The Radio, Oscar winner M.I.A. and Jack White's new band The Dead Weather. The band feature members of The Greenhornes and The Kills, and made their debut with a performance in White's Third Man records office in Nashville.
The three day event is due to take place between August 28th - 30th at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
The bill is massive and includes some of American music's most acclaimed new acts. The Dodos will perform, alongside the likes of Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Black Eyed Peas, Calexico, Os Mutantes, Band Of Horses, Incubus, Dave Matthews Band, Tom Jones, Silversun Pickups and much more.
Tickets for the event are available from the Outside Lands' official website but do not go on sale until Sunday (April 19th).
