Pavement Star Reveals Solo Album
Scott Kannberg to release new LP
Pavement star turned solo singer Scott Kannberg has revealed details of his new solo album 'The Real Feel'.
Pavement have reformed! The news has already sent ripples through the music world, with the legendary act having spawned numerous imitators.
Denied the success they arguably deserved, Pavement splintered in 1999 after ten years of almost continual recording and touring. Leaving behind them an almost perfect back catalogue, the band's fame seems only to have increased.
Announcing their reformation yesterday (September 17th) Pavement confirmed that they would be playing a one off show in New York. However it is not known if this re-union will be permanent.
The band's lead singer Stephen Malkmus has gone on to have a successful solo career, releasing numerous albums under his own name.
Guitarist Scott Kannberg formed the Preston School Of Industry, releasing several albums to warm acclaim. Building a fan base in his own right, Kannberg has now decided to step into the limelight.
Using the name 'Spiral Stairs' the songwriter intends to release his debut solo album 'The Real Feel' on October 4th. The record will feature guest appearances from The Posies and Big Star member Jon Auer, alongside Preston School Of Industry bassist Matt Harris and drummer Darius Minwalla.
“People who’ve heard the album told me they weren’t expecting it to sound the way it does,” says Kannberg. “It’s been a few years since the last album, and I’ve heard a lot more music in that time, and been influenced by it. I was listening to Richard Thompson’s Shoot Out The Lights a lot, and mid-period Fleetwood Mac, and Bob Dylan records from when he was in his mid- to late-thirties. I was listening to those records at home, with my guitar in my hands, and thinking, I want to write songs with that same weird vibe.”
Scott Kannberg will release 'The Real Feel' on October 4th. Tracklisting is as follows:
'True Love'
'Call The Ceasefire'
'Cold Change'
'Subiaco Shuffle'
'Wharf-Hand Blues'
'Maltese T'
'A Mighty Mighty Fall'
'Stolen Pills'
'The Real Feel'
'Blood Money'
