Pavement For Sasquatch Festival
More live dates confirmed
Re-united American indie rock heroes Pavement are set to headline next year's Sasquatch! festival.
Pavement were never your average indie rock group. Fiercely intelligent, since splitting in 1999 the band have embarked on strange and varied careers including computer programming, farming and of course being Stephen Malkmus.
Announcing their re-union earlier this year, Pavement silenced almost a decade's worth of idle blog speculation. Remaining on good terms with one another, it seems the band's split was due to exhaustion from ten years of touring.
Set to play a host of tour dates throughout 2010, the band have already confirmed shows in all corners of the globe. Beginning with a jaunt in Australia and New Zealand, Pavement are then set to do the right thing and return to their spiritual homeland in the UK.
The group are set to curate and headline All Tomorrows Parties in May, with Pavement's employing the services of their heroes The Fall amongst others. Also confirming three nights in London's Brixton Academy, Pavement are due to confirm spectacular support slots early next year.
Due to return to the United States to play four no doubt sensational nights in New York's Central Park, the band are also set to headline Sasquatch! in Washington. Taking place over May 29th - 31st, the festival occupies pride of place in the American festival calendar.
As things currently stand, Pavement are the only band confirmed for the festival with the full line up due to be announced on February 16th.
Of course, all this activity has lead to more idle speculation. With Glastonbury celebrating its 40th anniversary next year many fans have argued that Pavement are the ideal choice for the Worthy Farm event.
Could this be on the card? Stay tuned...
