Paul Weller Cancels New York Show

"Personal reasons" cited

British songwriting icon Paul Weller has been forced to cancel a show in New York citing "personal reasons".

Paul Weller first burst onto the British music scene with The Jam, whose unashamedly retro sound and image went against the grain in punk era England. However the band have gone on to outlast their peers, with albums such as 'All Mod Cons' viewed as being hugely influential works.

Yet Weller split The Jam at the height of their fame, and since then his career has gone down its own hugely unpredictable path. Last year the Modfather released the celebrated double album '22 Dreams' - a hugely ambitious fusion of songwriting styles. After a number of massive UK tours the songwriter was awarded 'Best British Male', the oldest recipient of the award to date.

The singer shows no signs of stopping, and performed at Coachella last weekend. The iconic songwriter played a stunning set in the desert heat, briefly accompanied by former Smiths guitar slinger Johnny Marr.

The New York show was scheduled for this Friday (April 24th) but was suddenly cancelled. Paul Weller has not revealed why the show was postponed, merely citing "personal reasons" for not fulfilling the commitment.

All tickets for the event will be re-funded at the point of purchase, while no re-scheduled date has been revealed.

British fans can content themselves with a number of festival appearances this summer, with Paul Weller due to perform at events such as Latitude over the long summer months.
