Paul McCartney For Isle Of Wight

Former Beatle grabs headline slot

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is due to headline this year's instalment of the Isle Of Wight festival.

The Isle Of Wight boasts some serious festival credentials. The island contained one of the hippy era's most note worthy parties, with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis all making the journey.

One group who sadly never played festivals were The Beatles. Secluded in their studio from 1966 onwards, the Fab Four never took part in the glorious era of mud, music and free love.

Now, however, one member is set to take the band's music to a rejuvenated Isle Of Wight. Sir Paul McCartney is set to headline the enormous event, playing what will no doubt be a memorable set.

The former Beatle has played a number of festivals in recent times, including a show stopping set at last year's Coachella. With a back catalogue which contains some jaw dropping hits, this could well be the highlight of the festival season.

Paul McCartney says: “I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round. This will be my first show on the Isle of Wight and I’m looking forward to a rollicking night of rock n’ roll”.

McCartney joins a bill already glistening with talent. Isle Of Wight festival is set to boast performances from the likes of Jay-Z, The Strokes, Orbital and more with new names being added all the time.

Isle Of Wight festival takes place between June 11th - 13th.
