Paul McCartney Citi Field DVD Plans
Live album due from former Beatle
Legendary songwriter Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed plans for a new live album drawing on his shows at Citi Field.
Sir Paul McCartney has a special relationship with Citi Field. Standing on the site of the old Shea Stadium, it was here that The Beatles played some of their most spectacular shows cementing their popularity in the United States.
Returning for a cameo at the last ever show to take place at Shea Stadium, when the site was re-developed as Citi Field Sir Paul McCartney was the obvious choice to open the new arena.
The songwriter announced a show at Citi Field earlier this year, but strong demand for tickets soon forced the Liverpudlian legend to add more. Eventually playing a trio of shows Sir Paul McCartney rolled out the hits to the delight of his fans.
Taking place on July 17th, 18th and 21st the shows were a massive success. Now Sir Paul McCartney is set to release a new CD / DVD package of the event for posterity.
Titled 'Good Evening New York City' the release will feature two CDs and a DVD. The deluxe edition will feature an additional DVD featuring McCartney's performance at the Ed Sullivan Theater.
"It was three great nights for the band and for me personally," Paul McCartney said. "It was very exciting to be back opening a new stadium on the site of the old Shea Stadium where we had played 44 years previously.”
Reminiscing about the days of Beatlemania, McCartney said the gigs were “even more exciting because this time round you could hear us!"
Sir Paul McCartney is set to release the Citi Field CD/DVD on November 23rd.
