Patricia Arquette Gives Impassioned Oscars Speech

As Reese Witherspoon uses #AskHerMore

The Academy Awards is the biggest show on the planet, an event which truly captures a global audience.

What better place, then, for Patricia Arquette to push for equal rights and equal pay between genders?

Winning the Oscar for 'Best Actress' courtesy of her role in 'Boyhood', the star responded with an impassioned speech.

“To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s time to have wage equality once and for all," she said. "And equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

Speaking backstage, the actress continued: “It's amazing, but it is time for us. It is time for women. Equal means equal. And the truth is, the older women get, the less money they make.”

Elsewhere, Reese Witherspoon continued to use her #AskHerMore hashtag in an attempt to encourage members of the media to stop asking actresses about their fashion choices and focus on more important issues.
