Passion Pit For Latitude

American group confirmed for event

Spectral Americans Passion Pit are amongst the latest crop of bands confirmed for this summer's Latitude festival.

Passion Pit are of the most hotly tipped names in American music. Lead singer Michael Angelakos wrote the group's first EP as a gift to his girlfriend, but the songs took on a life of their own.

Urged on by his friends - and a suitably impressed girlfriend - Passion Pit were formed with their first release 'Chunk Of Change' comprising of those same romantic songs. The band's forthcoming album 'Manners' is already gaining wide-eyed reviews from critics, most notably ourselves!

A series of high profile support slots found the band gaining fans, with Passion Pit sharing a stage with everyone from Death Cab For Cutie to mash up wizard Girl Talk.

The band are set to play a very special set at England's sunrise coast. Latitude combines a wonderful setting with an eclectic bill and this year's Obelisk Stage boasts a rather high number of pioneering musicians.

Joining Passion Pit is the newly announced Regina Spektor. The New York songstress is a hero on the city's anti-folk scene, with her songs containing quirky yet beautiful elements. Perhaps best known for her Strokes collaboration Spektor has a rabid fanbase, who seem to adore her every move - easily done if you rarely put a musical step wrong.

Headliners for this year's Latitude include Pet Shop Boys, Grace Jones, Doves and Editors with more acts still to be announced.

Latitude is due to take place between July 16th - 19th.
