Parlophone Record Store Day Plans

Releases from Jonsi, Beastie Boys and more...

Parlophone have unveiled a series of one off releases for this year's Record Store Day.

Taking place on April 16th, Record Store Day sees labels around the world release some exclusive material. The majority of the music will be pressed onto vinyl, with many boasting extremely limited editions.

Parlophone are supporters of Record Store Day, with last year's instalment boasting a series of releases from artists - both past and present - on their roster. Looking forward to April 16th, the label have revealed a series of exclusive seven inch singles.

Each committed to a pressing of just 500, the singles will come complete with a Parlophone house bag. Released through independent shops across the country, label President Miles Leonard explained: "Some of the most unique and sought-after records are found in our Indie Stores across the UK. I hope music lovers find the Parlophone collection for Record Store Day equally as exciting and collectable as we do."

The full list of releases includes some very special singles. Beastie Boys will release 'Make Some Noise' - the first track from new album 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2' to see the light of day.

Equipped with a Passion Pit remix, the seven inch will be joined by releases from Beck & Bat For Lashes, Baxter Dury and more.

Elsewhere, Gorillaz will press 'The Fall' onto vinyl while Jonsi is due to release the 'Go Out EP' on 12 inch. A collection of remixes, guest producers include klive, WLD PTCH and Brighton duo Fuck Buttons.

"When we get a new record back from the plant it's always the vinyl we want to see first" explains Jonsi. "It's just so much the best format in terms of smell, touch, checking the artwork and, of course, the sound. We love vinyl and we love independent stores; independent coffee shops, independent health food stores, vintage stores and, yes, record stores. Just don't ask me to play any more in-stores..."

Record Store Day is on April 16th.
