'Wonky' due on April 1st

Rejuvenated dance icons Orbital are to release their new album 'Wonky' on April 1st.

One of the most defining groups in the evolution of British electronic music, Orbital have been silent for almost a decade. Returning to live duties in the summer of 2009, the Hartnoll brothers promised to record new material.

Now the duo are set to make good on that vow. Ending an eight year wait for new material, Orbital's new album 'Wonky' is due to be released on April 1st.

Featuring collaborations with Zola Jesus and the hotly tipped UK rapper Lady Leshurr, the album is in part formed by the duo's celebrated live show. “That was really beneficial to our writing,” Phil Hartnoll said recently. “Trying out tracks in front of audiences, listening through their ears, getting responses. That’s been a really good string to our bow.”

Working in Brighton, the material for 'Wonky' was mixed in London by Mark 'Flood' Ellis. “I mostly remember Flood from all the electronic stuff like Cabaret Voltaire, Depeche Mode and Renegade Soundwave,” Paul Hartnoll.

“He also has a good structural overview of music, because he’s not just a dance producer, he comes from a more holistic song viewpoint, which is how we like to approach it.”
