One Big Weekend Fringe Event

Radio 1's annual shindig Radio One Big Weekend is set to hold a new fringe event featuring a host of up and coming new talent.

One Big Weekend has evolved out of the frankly embarrassing Radio 1 roadshows to become something quite special. Britain's biggest free outdoor event, Radio One Big Weekend moves from city to city each year, this year taking place in Swindon.

Headliners this year include Kasabian, Lily Allen and returning Geordie kings of punk-funk Maximo Park. Manchester group Doves are also set to headline, and will play songs from their recently released third album 'Kingdom Of Rust'.

Spread over four stages, the best of the event will be broadcast on the BBC with the line up featuring a range of styles and genres. Dizee Rascal will perform, with his new single 'Bonkers' set to repeat the success of last year's festival anthem 'Dance Wiv Me'.

Some of the more unusual attractions at this year's Radio One Big Weekend include a DJ battle between two of Britain's best loved broadcasters - Chris Moyles and Tim Westwood.

In a special bonus this year the event will have a fringe event featuring sixteen up and coming acts. Entrance to all fringe events is free, with the line up including the likes of The Volt, Sleeping With Giants and Decora.

Radio One Big Weekend takes place between May 9th - 10th.
