OMD have unveiled the Peter Saville designed artwork for their new album 'English Electric'.
Peter Saville will forever be linked to a certain aesthetic. Sure, the designer's work crosses periods, styles but - such is the iconic nature of his output - that association with Factory will forever be attached to his name.
So when one time Factory signings OMD asked the artist to design the cover of their latest album, they surely anticipated a certain result. As it stands, Peter Saville's design both nods towards his heritage and points to a creative future; sleek, Modernist and utterly eye catching, you can see it above.
Here's a quick quote from the designer: "'English Electric' is best described as brutally simple dynamic energy...Briefed by OMD to be as reductive as possible, the cover captures but barely contains the hi-tension of an industrial legend."
Meanwhile, OMD's Andy McLuskey had the following to say: "It feels appropriate that the sleeve of ‘English Electric’ is a contemporary distillation of traditional hazard signals."
