Oh What A Night!

Blimey, what a night.

It's the morning after quite possibly the most monumental (emphasis on 'mental') Clash Club of all time - so far!

A packed Friends Bar on 6th Street played host first to Noah And The Whale - the most colourful people in the building, then the enchanting duo Peggy Sue And The Pirates (though tonight supplemented by a drummer), whose unique songs won over a whole new army of fans here in Texas.
Next up, Glasgow's Make Model, taking things up a gear with frantic rhythms expelling from the stage upon which the band and all their equipment are squeezed on!

A massive queue, which stretched around the corner onto Brazos St, had formed in anticipation for Carbon/Silicon - half of Texas had come to see ex-Clash man Mick Jones play (Watch a clip of them performing 'The News' here). Pretty soon, a Police tape cordon had to be erected to keep the crowd in control. Those not lucky enough to make it into the filled-beyond-capacity crowd, squeezed up against the building windows to catch a peek at the icon's new outfit.

Playing to an audience peppered with celebs and high profile music industry bods, the elder statesmen showed the young pups how rock and roll should be done. The highlight of their set, for us anyway, was when Mick Jones wished our Deputy Editor a happy 30th birthday to a round of applause. The great man stuck around after their set to catch up with Clash and generally let us bow at his feet and worship his greatness.

Rising to the challenge of following such a draw, The Pigeon Detectives wasted no time in getting the gathered crowd jumping - Matt Bowman sweating profusely in the Texan heat, frantically pouring bottles of water over his head amidst his variety of leaps and bounds. Scaling the amp stack for the finale 'I'm Not Sorry', Matt made it back to Earth for the final note, bringing to a close the most explosive and most anticipated night in the Clash calendar.

We are heading out onto the mean streets of Austin again today. Check back tomorrow to find out what we got up to...
