In time for Record Store Day

of Montreal and Casiokids are due to team up for a new split seven inch single.
Just a few more sleeps to Record Store Day... For music fans, Record Store Day is one of the most exciting events of the year. Limited edition releases, exclusive re-issues and more are available from April 16th.
The lengthy list of releases just got a little larger. American psych-pop merchants of Montreal are set to team up with Norwegian beat crew Casiokids for a split seven inch single, available exclusively on Record Store Day.
of Montreal are fresh from releasing a new studio album, but leader Kevin Barnes agreed to go straight back into the studio. Picking a track to cover, the songwriter plumbed for 'Expecting To Fly' by Buffalo Springfield.
The famous 'lost' group used the original version of 'Expecting To Fly' as a showcase for their studio vision. Stripped right down to its core, of Montreal singer Kevin Barnes gives a tender rendition of the classic track.
Due for release on the Norwegian label Splendour, the seven inch will come backed with a new track courtesy of Casiokids. 'London Zoo' is previously unreleased, and will be available on the new seven inch.
Kept to a limited edition of just 1000 copies, 'London Zoo' is a spectacular mixture of indie rock guitars, Afrobeat rhythms and pop melodies. Casiokids entered the record books back in 2009, when a single on Moshi Moshi became the first British release to be sung in Norwegian.
Working in their home studio, Casiokids have since released a stream of singles. Will their debut album proper drop soon? Time will tell...
Meanwhile, Splendour are also preparing to release a joint 12 inch from Brad Laner / Joenssu 1685 on Record Store Day.
Out on April 16th, you can stream both tracks HERE.
