Oasis Slate Heaton Park Fans

Refund claims 'cheeky'

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has hit out fans who requested a refund after a recent show in Manchester, labelling them "cheeky".

Oasis announced details of a massive UK tour earlier this year. Using their largest venues since the era defining Knebworth shows, the tour contains some of the finest British acts around.

Support on the jaunt comes from Kasabian, The Enemy, Twisted Wheel, Reverend & The Makers and many more. Pre-launch hype was astonishing, with the rush of fans to the Heaton Park grounds holding back the European elections.

However it all went wrong on the night. After The Enemy were forced to pull out due to chronic food poisoning the remaining support slots went off without a hitch - however the same could not be said for the headliners.

Oasis faced technical problems from the off, with a generator failing after only three songs. Leaving the stage, the band returned forty five minutes later with Noel Gallagher informing fans that "anybody who has kept their ticket will get a full refund".

Later expressing doubts about the promise, Oasis have been bombarded with calls from fans asking for a refund. To date, the group have received more than 20,000 claims with more flooding in daily.

Writing on the official Oasis website Noel Gallagher claimed to be un-amused by the situation. “It seems that around 20,000 of you have asked for a refund from that night at Heaton Park!! 20,000!! So you were genuinely disappointed? I don't recall seeing a 20,000 gap in the crowd. Cheeky cunts! Tsk ..some people.”

The remaining nights of the tour went off without a hitch. Oasis then travelled to Scotland's Murrayfield Stadium for a spectacular show, and are due to play more dates throughout the summer in the likes of Ireland's Slane Castle and London's Wembley Stadium.

The band have plenty of surprises up their sleeves, however. Fans who miss out on seeing Oasis on the current UK tour can attempt to catch the Manchester giants performing headline sets at Benicassim and Roskilde.
