Oasis Cancel V Festival Set

Liam Gallagher falls ill

Manchester giants Oasis have been forced to cancel their set at V Festival due to singer Liam Gallagher falling ill.

Liam Gallagher has been busy of late. In addition to touring the world with Oasis the singer has also launched his own fashion line, named Pretty Green in honour of The Jam.

The famously truculent singer has been on good form recently. Gallagher ordered the crowd in Leicester's Ricoh Arena to pipe down after clapping for too long, while a lobbed pint in London's Roundhouse was met with vitriol by the iconic frontman.

However it seems that all that work has taken its toll on the singer. Liam Gallagher has been diagnosed as suffering from laryngitis, with Oasis being forced to pull out of their headline set at V Festival as a result.

The show was due to be the final date of the band's 'Dig Out Your Soul' world tour. The Manchester band performed (August 22nd) at the Staffordshire leg of the festival, although after that set Noel Gallagher blogged that he felt under the weather, writing: "Don't feel too clever. Outrageous stomach ache. Feel like I'm coming down with summat (sic)".

A spokesperson for Oasis revealed that the band were gutted to be missing out on the party. "After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member's illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted. Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday (August 28th) in Paris," they explained.
