Chart busting electro stars The Noisettes have played a sensational set at Glastonbury, covering Michael Jackson as a tribute to the star.

The Noisettes began life as a noisy garage rock inspired trio. Topped off by singer Shingai Shoniwa's gut renching soulful vocals, the group gathered acclaim after a limited edition single was released by hip indie powerhouse Transgressive.

After a bidding war for the band's signature, soulful imprint Motown won the day. The one time Sound Of Young America, the label snapped up The Noisettes and released their debut album 'What's The Time Mr Wolf?'.

After the relative failure of that album The Noisettes went back to the drawing board, deciding to follow a new electro direction. Departing Motown, the group scored a huge hit earlier this year with their single 'Don't Upset The Rhythm'.

Drawing a massive crowd to the John Peel Stage in Glastonbury, the band performed several covers in their set including versions of The Killers' 'When You Were Young' as well as the glam rock classic 'Children Of The Revolution' by T-Rex.

In addition to this, The Noisettes also paid tribute to recently deceased pop icon Michael Jackson. The two share some common ground, having both released albums through Motown.

Singer Shingai Shoniwa performed an a capella version of Jackson's hit 'Ben'. Written as a child, the song is an ode to a pet and went on to top charts around the world.

The set marked the first time The Noisettes had played Glastonbury, with Shoniwa stating that "it won't be our last". The band were backed by two backing singers and a host of string players.

The front woman later dedicated the band's version of 'When You Were Young' to fans who were wearing light up bunny ears. "I wish I could go on stage with them on," the singer said.

The Noisettes finished with their track 'The Count Of Monte Christo' before launching into a final cover version, performing T-Rex's 'Children Of The Revolution'.

The Noisettes played:

'Wild Young Hearts'
'Don't Upset The Rhythm' (Go Baby Go)'
'24 Hours'
'Don't Give Up'
'When You Were Young
'Every Now And Then'
'Saturday Night'
'Scratch Your Name'
'Atticus'
'Never Forget You'
'The Count Of Monte Christo'
'Children Of The Revolution'
