"These things never change anything."

Noel Gallagher has criticised the Occupy Wall Street movement, claiming that it will "never change anything".

The astonishing rise of the Occupy movement has taken observers by surprise. Beginning as an impromptu protest against the banking system, Occupy has become global with camps around the world.

Garnering widespread support amongst musicians, the likes of Sean Lennon, Rufus Wainwright and more have performed at Occupy Wall Street. However it seems that Noel Gallagher isn't a fan...

The genial guitarist was probed by Rolling Stone recently about his political views, and gave a negative assessment of the Occupy movement.

"I don’t know about Occupy Wall Street" he said. "These things never change anything. What do they think, they’re going to bring down the all-powerful banking system? What would happen then? Anarchy! Sorry, but the one place where there isn’t going to be anarchy in the whole fucking world is in the United States of America."

Noel Gallagher's views are one of the only negative assessments of the Occupy movement to emerge from the pop world. Thom Yorke recently performed at the Occupy London Christmas party, playing a DJ set to stunned onlookers.

Speaking on camera, the Radiohead songwriter admitted a certain degree of "sympathy" towards the movement. "You don't need to be an anarchist, you don't need to be someone who smashes the state to have sympathy with that viewpoint."

He added: "I think if the British government is not prepared to really make amends to the British people for this, by penalizing the banks the way they should, then I think we should do it ourselves."
