No Oasis Album For Five Years
Noel Gallagher claims
Fans waiting for a new album by Oasis have been told to wait, with Noel Gallagher insisting the group won't release new material for five years.
Oasis released their latest album 'Dig Out Your Soul' last year. The group's seventh, it went on to become their most successful since their Britpop pomp. Of course, the band themselves declared it their best since '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' but then they say that after every record.
The band immediately began touring, but were halted by an onstage intruder in Toronto. Guitarist Noel Gallagher was left with bruised ribs, and the group were forced to cancel a North American tour. Not that it harmed their record sales, with the increased publicity sending the album soaring into the Billboard Top 10.
However this could well be the last Oasis album for some time. Noel Gallagher has been working on solo material, which he intends to release before focussing on group work. Speaking to Q Magazine he claimed it would be five years before the band released another album.
He told Q magazine: "The last three albums have been three years in between, but I see it as likely to be longer this time. We've arrived at the point I wanted to be at from when Gem (Archer) and Andy (Bell) joined the band.
“And the last time we did that was at the end of Be Here Now, and we rushed the next album (Standing On the Shoulder of Giants). There was no inspiration on it.
"By the time we make another record we'll be five years older. It (will) be really interesting for fans of the band to see how each individual makes up the whole."
There is no release date for the proposed solo album by Noel Gallagher.
