Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers has revealed that he has been given the all clear from cancer.
Dramatic times for Nile Rodgers. The guitarist was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October 2010, and started keeping a 'cancer blog' in order to keep fans informed. Battling ill health, the Chic guru was approached by Daft Punk to work on some new material.
The results are gathered on 'Random Access Memories', with lead singer and international hit 'Get Lucky' boasting that inimitable Nile Rodgers touch.
Now it seems that the disco icon has won hit battle against cancer. Tweeting to fans, Nile Rodgers wrote: "Instead of showing gross internal video I'll show my doctor's fly examination room. I'M ALL CLEAR AGAIN."
Earlier this year the guitarist spoke to the Official Chart Company about this intense period of his life. "I was facing life and death issues and then to get something so rewarding as a number one record is pretty amazing," he said. "I think this particular experience rates very high, because two years ago I was stricken with cancer just right out of the clear blue sky".
"And from that moment I decided I was going to work as much as I could, play as many concerts, do as many records, because that's what I live for."
Clash recently spoke to Nile Rodgers about his career, focusing on legendary production work with Chic, Madonna and of course his work with Daft Punk. Catch up on that feature HERE.
