Nicolas Jaar has grabbed hold of Radio 1's Essential mix - listen to his two hour contribution now.

Heady days for Nicolas Jaar. The Chilean-American producer is continuing to push ahead, defining and refining his identity on his own terms.

Whether it's helming his own label, releasing a cube (!) or expanding his live show, everything Nicolas Jaar does right now seems to be layered in idiosyncrasies. Invited to take control of Radio 1's Essential mix, the producer has responded with two hours of lush, beautiful, experimental electronics.

Shifting from Jay-Z to Marvin Gaye, Jonny Greenwood to Pearson Sound, the mix also contains plenty of unreleased and hard to find Jaar tracks.

Placed on the BBC website, Nicolas Jaar has offered the following quote by way of summary: "I've watched Jurassic Park twice in my life - once when I was six and the second time a couple of weeks ago. It inspired me to think about how gaps in time change our way of perceiving".

Stream the mix HERE.

Nicolas Jaar is, of course, featured in the new issue of Clash Magazine. The producer dissects his own work, and muses on his appearance in our list of modern day Outsiders operating in the music industry.

It's a fascinating discussion - watch out for elements online shortly.
