Following domestic abuse incident

Former Queens Of The Stone Age bass player Nick Oliveri could face a 15 year jail sentence.

Nick Oliveri has always lived on the wild side. However few expected the bass player's home to be at the centre of an incident involving armed police.

According to reports, police were alerted to Nick Oliveri's home following a phone call from his girlfriend. The bass player was apparently refusing to allow her to leave the property, and during a heated argument the previous day had allegedly struck her.

Police surrounded the apartment after it was claimed that Nick Oliveri had a gun. Arrested without incident, it has now emerged that the full list of charges levels against the bass player could lead to a lengthy jail sentence.

American website TMZ reports that Nick Oliveri has been charged with several drug and firearm offences. Police searching his home found quantities of cocaine and methamphetamines, alongside a fully loaded rifle.

Formally charged with police, the full rap sheet makes for intimidating reading. In all, Nick Oliveri has been charged with: two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.

If the bass player was convicted on each of these charges, Oliveri could face up to 15 years in prison.

Nick Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004. Recently, Josh Homme has admitted that the move could have led to the split of the band but the singer explained that allegations of domestic abuse had been made against Oliveri.

Continuing his music career, Nick Oliveri recently completed a tour with the reformed line up of Kyuss LIVES.

Criminal proceedings against Nick Oliveri will begin with a court hearing next month.
