Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will return in the New Year with a new album entitled “DIG, LAZURUS, DIG!!!”. The lead single from the album goes by the same name and will be released on February 18th. The parent album will then follow on March 3rd.
Nick Cave has a long history of using Biblical imagery, right from his Birthday Party days when he recorded the gothic masterpiece “Big Jesus Trashcan” to his solo Elvis-as-Christ epic “Tupelo”. For the new single, Cave has transplanted the Lazurus tale of a man brought back to life by Jesus to present day New York, and wonders what the unfortunate Lazurus made of his new life.
The single will be released on limited edition 7 inch, CD and download from February 18th.
