Submit your material to win chance to play with We Are Scientists

Bringing you the best in new musical talent is one of the most important functions of Clash. Nothing warms the cockles of our hearts more than to see a young band we’ve supported go on to succeed.
Whilst we will relentlessly endeavor to fulfill our unequivocal promise of delivering these exciting new bands to your eyes and ears, it would take a miracle worker to be able to reveal all the new talent emerging across the shores of the UK and beyond. Furthermore, you don’t need to be a genius to recognise that today’s musical landscape is more jumbled with aspiring bands and artists than ever before.
The process of creating music has been made easier by technology, however the number of ‘platforms’ which bands can get their music onto has fragmented and diversified to the point that it is now probably actually harder than ever to get your band heard and recognized than it was before the dawn of the ‘internet age’.
Naturally as the musical landscape evolves and adapts, so do the facets that support and nurture it, which is why we now have things like Kickstarter, bandcamp and Red Bull Music Academy.
And more frequently we also have brands like Aloft Hotels who acknowledge that they can help unleash inspired creativity to a wider audience.
The need for young bands to be given the chance to shine, on the recommendation of successful and professional artists (rather than a vote-for-your-mate’s-band-even-if-you-haven’t-heard-of-them type brand activity) is now paramount to the uncovering of new and incredible talent.
This is why they have launched ‘Play & Stay at Aloft’, a project that is seeking out bands and artists who are willing to put themselves forward and demonstrate their skills and capabilities for an opportunity that could push them onto the next level.
‘Play & Stay at Aloft’ encourages aspiring bands to submit demos for their chance to play a live gig in one of three Aloft hotels - Aloft Abu Dhabi, Aloft Brussels and Aloft London Excel.
These gigs are to be watched back by We Are Scientists, who will then choose the band they most want to work with. This band will then spend 12 hours with We Are Scientists in a converted suite at Aloft London Excel; writing and recording a brand new track.
The track will then be performed live with We Are Scientists during an exclusive gig at Aloft London Excel on 1st November.
To enter the competition, bands need to email a demo, such as a track or video clip, or simply a link to their website, Facebook or Myspace page with their songs on it, to playandstay@aloftlive.com.
Entries to the competition close on 8th October 2012 with the gigs taking place in Abu Dhabi, Brussels and London throughout September and October. The studio session and We Are Scientists’ exclusive gig is scheduled for 1st November 2012.
