New Amy Winehouse Album Due

Label boss confirms

Controversial singer Amy Winehouse is set to release a new album next year, according to her record label.

Amy Winehouse is one of the biggest stars on the planet. Her breakthrough album 'Back To Black' teamed the singer with Mark Ronson, producing some incredible results.

Taking influences from soul and jazz the album mixed old with new, spawning the hit single 'Rehab'. Celebrated by critics, 'Back To Black' went on to top charts around the world as Amy Winehouse memorably won five Grammy awards in one night.

However since then the singer's career has taken a turn for the worse. Amy Winehouse retreated from the glare of the British press by moving to St. Lucia, where she apparently began writing new material.

Recording sessions in Britain didn't go as well as planned. The singer attempted to team up with Mark Ronson again, but the producer walked out of the studio citing Amy Winehouse's unreliability.

Recruiting a new producer in the form of Salaam Remi, the singer began recording material earlier this year. Now it seems that Amy Winehouse is due to return with her new album next year.

Speaking to BBC News, Island co-president Darcus Beese claimed to be very excited by the singer's new material. "I've heard a couple of song demos that absolutely floored me," he said.

"Hopefully we'll have her album next year."

Amy Winehouse is apparently writing her new album "in fits and starts". The singer is set to return to British TV on Saturday (October 10th) singing backing vocals for her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Amy Winehouse is due to release her new album in 2010.
