Muse Top UK Charts

'The Resistance' goes to number one

Teignmouth trio Muse have soared straight to the top of the UK charts with their fifth album 'The Resistance'.

Muse returned recently with their new album 'The Resistance'. Promising to sound bigger and better than ever, recording sessions in Italy sparked rumours of a Wagnerian new glam rock / prog / classical crossover.

Released last week, 'The Resistance' turned out to be every bit as bizarre. Lead single 'Uprising' was a squealing, snarling three minute rush that managed to cram every piece of Muse' ambition into one sonic burst.

Launching their new album with a show in their hometown of Teignmouth, Muse are set to turn their sights on the United States soon after confirming initial details for a mammoth new world tour.

Muse soared straight into the UK charts at number one, beating off competition from Peter Andre and Jay-Z. Scorned tabloid hubby Andre made do with number three, while hip hop icon Jay-Z lagged behind at number four.

Last week's number one Vera Lynn dropped to number three, with the War Time idol's greatest hits still selling well.

The UK Top Ten albums chart is as follows:

1. Muse – 'The Resistance'
2. Vera Lynn – 'We'll Meet Again - The Very Best Of'
3. Peter Andre – 'Revelation'
4. Jay-Z – 'The Blueprint 3'
5. David Gray – 'Draw The Line'
6. Pixie Lott – 'Turn It Up'
7. Kings Of Leon – 'Only By The Night'
8. David Guetta – 'One Love'
9. Mark Knopfler – 'Get Lucky'
10. Florence & The Machine – 'Lungs'
