Muse Reveal Glam Influence

New song inspired by T-Rex

Returning stadium rocking Devon behemoths Muse have revealed that their new material has a distinct trace of glam rock.

While trends may come and go, glam rock have never really been in fashion since the metric system was introduced. Memories of Slade, mutton chops and gloriously flamboyant platforms persist making sure that glam stays in the dustbin of musical history.

All of which makes it even more bizarre that Muse have admitted to a glam influence on their new album 'The Resistance'. The band's first album since 2006, expectations are high among fans that the English group can match their awe-inspiring live show.

In a recent interview singer Matt Bellamy revealed that the group have written a three part symphony for their new record. Now it seems that in addition to this Muse have gone all Noddy Holder on us.

Speaking to Australian radio station Triple J bass player Chris Wolstenholme revealed that the band wanted to try something different.

"It's something that's quite different from what we've done before. It's more kind of dancey and disco-y than anything we've done before."

"Kind of almost influence by things like Goldfrapp. Kind of like a rock version of what Goldfrapp would be. And influenced a little bit by some glam bands as well from the 70s and 80s."

Wolstenholme named T-Rex as a prime influence on the new material, going on to speak of his love of the much derided 70s genre. However he did also confirm that the band have been busy incorporating classical influences into their sound.

"There's a track at the end which is like a three part symphony. There's something like a thirty piece orchestra playing on that. That one's a monster I think it's like sixteen minutes long."

Muse are due to release 'The Resistance' on September 14th. Don't forget you can still win a chance to hear the new album before anyone else with ClashMusic!
