Muse Play Homecoming Show

New album gets an airing

Teignmouth trio Muse played a very special homecoming show on Friday night (September 4th) previewing their new album.

Muse are one of the most spectacular live acts on the planet. The trio have moved from cult obscurity to become a stadium filling monster, with their epic sound backed with a truly jaw-dropping stage show.

The band's previous album 'Black Holes And Revelations' was followed by a sell out show at Wembley Stadium in front of thousands of fans. Muse captured the night for posterity on their lavish concert film 'HAARP'.

Since then, Muse have taken a back seat. Retreating to Italy last year the band began work on ambitious new material. In interviews the band have cited classical music as an inspiration, while prog rock continues to be a major touchstone for the trio.

Now finished recording, it is only a matter of time before 'The Resistance' is unleashed on the public. To date, little has been heard from the album with Muse keeping streams of new material to a minimum.

The band arranged two hometown shows to preview their new album. Taking to the stage on a specially prepared area outside The Den, Muse were given a huge ovation by the 7000 strong crowd.

Opening with new single 'Uprising' the group went on to play 'United States Of Eurasia' and the electronic flavoured 'Undisclosed Desires'. Muse also dipped into their back catalogue for old classics such as 'Plug In Baby'.

The group's last show was at V Festival in 2008. Muse singer Matt Bellamy seemed nervous throughout the hometown show, saying little to the crowd. However the band were on sizzling live form, finishing with 'Knights Of Cydonia.

Muse played the following songs:

'Uprising'
'Supermassive Black Hole'
'Stockholm Syndrome'
'The Resistance'
'Hysteria'
'New Born'
'Map Of The Problematique'
'United States Of Eurasia'
'Cave'
'Popcorn'
'Undisclosed Desires'
'Time Is Running Out'
'Unnatural Selection'
'Plug In Baby'
'Knights Of Cydonia'
