Mumford & Sons Crack America

'Sigh No More' now Top 20

Mumford And Sons could be on the verge of cracking the United States after ‘Sigh No More’ went Top 20.

Mumford & Sons have not enjoyed the easiest time in the United States. The band were forced to drop out of a performance at SXSW back in 2008, leaving close friend Laura Marling to soldier on alone.

However the band now seem to have hit their stride. An enormous success here in the UK, debut album ‘Sigh No More’ now appears to be catching hold in the United States where it is racing up the charts.

The album barely caused a splash on the other side of the pond on its release, but heavy touring and radio play has pushed ‘Sigh No More’ up the charts. When the Billboard charts were released this week Mumford & Sons were relieved to see that their hard work had paid off with a Top 20 placing.

It’s only taken the band 26 weeks to reach this lofty height, but ‘Sigh No More’ appears to be breaking through in the United States. A deeply English version of groups such as Fleet Foxes, it’s easy to see why our American cousins would latch onto it so much!

The band are the latest British success story abroad. A notoriously difficult market to crack, recent years have seen everyone from Radiohead and Coldplay to Keane score a Top Ten placing on the album chart.

Meanwhile, the band have confirmed that their upcoming British tour is completely sold out. Beginning on October 1st in Glasgow’s O2 Academy every date on the new tour has totally sold out.

Ending with two nights in the Hammersmith Apollo, Mumford & Sons are set to finish 2010 in celebratory fashion.
