Mosca Working On Bashment Release

Or so he tells ClashMusic, anyway...

Mosca has told ClashMusic that he is working on some bashment tracks, due for release at the end of the year.

Amid the maelstrom of influences flooding through UK bass, Mosca's sets still stand out through their sheer eclecticism. Sure, the London producer can stick to one genre when he chooses, but the DJ is at his best when he simply lets his mind wander.

New EP 'Eva Mendes' finds Mosca hooking up with Hypercolour for a series of House cuts. Chatting with ClashMusic, we took the opportunity to ask the producer if there was a sound he had yet to explore.

"Bashment. It’s coming, it’s coming!" he said. "It’s probably going to be at the end of the year now. The foundations are in place! (I'm) looking for vocalists. Like I was saying earlier with this House thing I don’t want it to be throwaway. I also don’t want it to sound like.. there’s a few people who do play bashment but it has that white boy bashment type feel to it".

"And I am white! (laughs) It’s got a certain kind of sound to it. It’s a bit electro-y and all mixed in with club music.. faster stuff, like 130. Funky House. Funky Bashment! I don’t want it to sound like that, I want it to sound like a decent Dancehall record".

As for a potential release, Mosca was clear to emphasise that no firm plans had been put in place. "Well, we don’t know what’s going to happen yet. The thing is that nowadays it’s all free – everyone just downloads it" he explained. "With bashment you never really pay for anything. Sometimes the producers will just give you the pack. Everything will be 320, they’ll just put it out there. Big producers as well, it’s not just like up and coming people. It’s a weird culture so to fit in with that.. it will get leaked and it will be on those sites".

No word on a release date as yet.

A full feature with Mosca is forthcoming on ClashMusic (hint - check back on Thursday). For now, here's 'Eva Mendes'.
