Morrissey Talks Retirement

Heaven knows we're miserable now!

British music legend Morrissey has spoken about the possibility of retiring, admitting in a new interview that he can't envisage singing past the age of 55.

From his very first Top Of The Pops appearance with The Smiths to his varied and vaunted solo career, Morrissey has kept the nation captivated with a series of stunning albums and provocative interviews.

With new album 'Years Of Refusal' almost upon us, Morrissey has begun taking stock and admitted in a new interview with XFM that he has considered retiring.

The singer will celebrate his 50th birthday with a spectacular show at the Manchester Apollo on April 22nd, but doesn't like the thought of becoming an ageing rocker.

“I assume most people lose it because they become satisfied and they achieve everything they ever set out to achieve”, he said. “More to the point, they become personally satisfied and that they’re quite happy and it doesn’t matter any more. It’s very interesting that it’s very hard to think of anybody who ages and still manages to mean anything".

Asked whether he would continue singing past the age of fifty five, the singer replied "I think it’s incredibly slim. For Heaven’s sake! Really?"
