Morrissey Scorns Smiths Rumours

No reunion, says the singer

Mancunian minister of misery Morrissey has scorned rumours of a Smiths reunion, claiming it won't happen as he is "not stuck in the past".

The Smiths released their debut single in 1982 and in the next five years dominated the indie landscape like no band before or since. One of the best loved and most influential groups of the post-punk era, The Smiths imploded in 1987 with singer Morrissey going on to have a successful solo career.

The singer is set to return soon with new album 'Years Of Refusal'. A ferocious album that never pulls its punches, you can read our reviews here!

Morrissey recently visited Radio 2 for a live session and was probed on the much rumoured Smiths reunion.

"The past seems like a distant place and I'm pleased with that. I feel very much of now" he told Stuart Maconie.

"I just sing the songs that please me and I don't try to please anyone else. I don't ask people what they think about them."

Morrissey also added that he was disappointed in the current crop of pop stars, labelling them "dreadful". "I'm waiting and am hopeful that one person will change everything," he said.
