Morrissey Re-Schedules Dates
Cancelled gigs now in October
Mancunian minister of misery Morrissey has re-scheduled his previously cancelled dates in London and Birmingham for October.
Despite press scandal and the best wishes of his critics, Morrissey stills reigns supreme as a Statue Of Liberty like figure over the British indie scene. With a back catalogue that extends from The Smiths to his recent solo resurgence, the singer is a towering influence on modern music.
Morrissey released his recent album 'Years Of Refusal' back in February. A biting, stinging dismissal of his critics the album came after a period in the singer's life dominated by a legal battle over accusations of racism.
The indie icon has also been dogged by rumours that The Smiths would reform in 2009. American festival Coachella was reportedly keen to offer the band a multi-million deal for a headline performance, but this was kicked into touch by both Morrissey and one time writing partner Johnny Marr.
Morrissey eventually headlined Coachella on his own, but at one point fled from the stage. Returning to finish the set, the renowned vegetarian blamed fumes coming from nearby burger stalls.
A UK tour earlier this year saw some sublime performances from Morrissey, but this seems to have taken its toll on the singer who cancelled some recent shows on the advice of doctors. Suffering from an unknown illness, dates in London and Birmingham were cancelled to allow Morrissey to recuperate.
However the singer has now recovered and will conclude his current UK tour with two sold out shows at Manchester Apollo, before heading to the O2 Academy Brixton.
It won't be long until Morrissey graces these shores, again, however. The two cancelled shows from this tour will join four new dates in October, with all original tickets remaining valid.
Morrissey has confirmed the following dates:
October
23 Birmingham Symphony Hall
24 Swindon Oasis
26 Bournemouth Opera House
27 London Royal Albert Hall
29 O2 Academy Leeds
30 Sheffield City Hall
