Morrissey Cancels Show

On doctor's orders

Mancunian minister of misery Morrissey has been forced to cancel a show at London's Royal Albert Hall due to illness.

Morrissey has had a hectic time of late. A row over an interview with the NME resulted in Morrissey being branded a racist due to his views on modern life in England - though not by us, we hasten to add.

The resulting court cases saw Morrissey have his day, with his new album 'Years Of Refusal' brimming with indignant anger. Lead single 'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris' saw the singer turning away from England, preferring to languish in the romance of a Parisian lifestyle.

Of course, all this attention may have attracted some un-warranted attention. Conservative leader David Cameron recently admitted to being a big fan of Morrissey, although he immediately apologised to the singer who once sang of 'bloody Tories'.

Following the release of the album Morrissey took off on a world tour, yet this has been hampered by ill health. The opening show of his North American dates was pulled due to illness, and now it seems that tonight's (May 11th) gig at the Royal Albert Hall has been postponed as well.

The date has yet to be re-scheduled, although a statement from SJM Concerts told fans to hang on to their tickets just in case.

"Event organisers would like to apologise to his fans for the disappointment but he is unable to perform and on doctor's orders has been told to rest," the statement read.

Of course, it isn't just bad health that stops Morrissey from performing - the Manchester bard recently stormed off stage at Coachella as the fumes from nearby burger stalls were over powering the staunchly vegetarian singer.

Morrissey completed a show in Liverpool Empire on May 10th, with his next scheduled show due to take place on May 13th in Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

It is not known when the Royal Albert Hall show will be re-scheduled for.
