Morrissey Cancels Liverpool Show

After being smacked by missile

British songwriting icon Morrissey has stopped a Liverpool show after only two songs, due to being hit on the head by a missile.

Morrissey has had a difficult year. Wherever the singer has enjoyed great leaps forward, these have almost immediately been accompanied by traumatic problems.

The icon's successful new album 'Years of Refusal' was followed by a series of Stateside tour dates, however these were cancelled due to ongoing health problems.

Returning to the UK, Morrissey's health continued to plague him. A series of postponements left the singer facing a busy Autumn tour, which seems to have taken its toll. The singer fainted onstage in Swindon, with the former Smiths icon being rushed to hospital.

Now seemingly well again, the singer took to the stage at Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday (November 7th) in good form. Chatting with the crowd Morrissey sprinted through opening song 'This Charming Man'.

The Smiths classic was then followed by the solo track 'Black Cloud' when disaster struck. Moving down to the front row to meet his fans, Morrissey was suddenly struck by a object and departed the stage.

Although accounts are conflicting, it seems that Morrissey was hit by either a bottle or a plastic cup. Exiting the stage immediately the singer did not return, with fans chanting his name for around 15 minutes.

Eventually a crew member told the assembled fans that Morrissey

Merseyside Police have been informed about the incident, Echo Arena general manager Tim Banfield said.

"We are exceptionally disappointed that one individual should choose to recklessly cause the concert to be abandoned, ruining what should have been a brilliant night out for thousands of Morrissey fans. The Echo Arena team take great care to ensure the safety of visitors and artists at the venue," he said/
