Morrissey Adds UK Tour Dates

After confirming Hop Farm slot

Morrissey has announced plans for a nationwide tour, opening in Perth on June 15th.

Morrissey is a law unto himself. Fed up with British music, the press and the industry in general the singer has simply stopped making new material. Sending himself into exile once again, fans doubted when his next tour would be.

However in a shock move Morrissey recently announced a headline slot at this year’s Hop Farm festival. Now the singer has confirmed a full scale tour, though some of the dates are in rather unusual locations.

Opening in Perth on June 15th, Morrissey has arranged show in Hawick, Dunoon and more. Seeming to prefer rather more out of the way locations, the indie icon will continue the tour with some English dates.

Shows in Hawick, Grimsby, York and Bradford are set to follow. The tour is due to finish in Cheltenham on June 30th, with no dates in either London or Manchester being confirmed by the singer.

The slightly obscure schedule is matched by the puzzling choice of support acts. Morrissey has picked Flats to support him, with appearances from much hyped groups Mona and Brother also planned.

Back to basics indie rock ‘n’ roll, Mona and Brother have puzzled the singer’s fan base. However Morrissey is known for his bizarre choice of support acts, which have included El Vez – a Hispanic Elvis impersonator.

Equally, there is the dreaded ‘curse of Morrissey’ where a literate, fresh faced indie group will secure a support slot with the singer only to disappear. Could it happen again? Brother and Mona had better watch out…

Morrissey has confirmed the following shows:

June
15 Perth City Hall
17 Inverness Ironworks
18 Dunoon Queens Hall
20 Dunfermline Alahambra Theatre
21 Hawick City Hall
24 Grimsby Auditorium
25 York Barbican

30 Cheltenham Centaur
