Moondog Tribute Show Planned
With Lightspeed Champion, Adem and more
A tribute show to the late avant-folk musician Moondog is set to be held in London, with Lightspeed Champion, Adem and Mouse On Mars' Andi Thoma set to appear, among others.
Known throughout his life as The Viking Of 6th Ave, Moondog invented his own instruments, with his bizarre take on traditional New Orleans jazz finding a cult audience.
Having spent his life blind, the musician was celebrated among New Yorkers for two decades as an extravagantly garbed street performer, who refused to wear anything but his own made clothes.
Moondog's music can be found in the most unlikely places - Mr Scruff's dancefloor hit 'Get A Move On' samples one of his works.
Moondog sadly passed away ten years ago, however the show at the London Barbican will see a host of acts lining up to pay respect to the musician by playing a selection of his songs and compositions.
Joining the Britten Sinfonia on the night will be Lightspeed Champion, Pictish Trail, Adem, Clinic and Andi Toma (of Mouse On Mars), Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) Caribou (DJ Set) and more.
