Supergroup craft new material

Conor Oberst has revealed that American supergroup Monsters Of Folk are working on new material.

With four very distinct talents, Monsters Of Folk was always going to be a difficult beast to organise. Sparked by a gig between some stellar talent, the group contains members of Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and more.

Uniting four very unique songwriters, Monsters Of Folk retreated to an abandoned bordello to work on their debut album. Released last year, the self-titled effort represented the songwriter's involved but was much more than the sum of its parts.

A huge critical success, Monsters Of Folk followed the release of the album with two very special British dates. At a show in London singer Conor Oberst knocked his upright piano over, sending it tumbling off the stage.

Since then the band have been inactive, with each member returning to their day job. Jim James returned to My Morning Jacket, who have co-starred in 'American Dad' and begun work on new material.

Fellow band member M Ward is an acclaimed solo artist in his own right, with the American singer due to work on his own material.

However in a new message Conor Oberst has revealed that Monsters Of Folk have already begun work on their second album. "Monsters of folk writing new material, can't wait for you to not have to anymore".

Conor Oberst released his own solo album 'Outer South' last year, which became a critical success. The one time Bright Eyes mainman appears to be indulging in different projects, although there is no indication of when Monsters Of Folk might be set to release new material.
