Monsters Of Folk Tracklisting
Bright Eyes, MMJ, M Ward supergroup
Further details have been revealed about the forthcoming album from the Monsters Of Folk, the 'supergroup' made up of Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket's Jim James and singer/songwriter M. Ward.
Although the musicians have worked together in the past, this is the first recorded evidence of their efforts. Titled 'Monsters of Folk', a tongue in cheek title given by road crew when the members previously toured together under the 'An Evening With: Bright Eyes, Jim James and M. Ward' banner in 2004, the album will be released in the UK on 22nd September.
The full tracklisting for the album follows:
1. Dear God (sincerely M.O.F.)
2. Say Please
3. Whole Lotta Losin'
4. Temazcal
5. The Right Place
6. Baby Boomer
7. Man Named Truth
8. Goodway
9. Ahead of the Curve
10. Slow Down Jo
11. Losin Yo Head
12. Magic Marker
13. Map Of The World

"So our road manager just started calling us the 'Monsters of Folk,' because each of our careers have been so storied on folk," fellow Monster (and My Morning Jacket frontman) Jim James added. "It really seemed to fit, especially since it didn't."

When Jim James, M. Ward, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis hit the road together in 2004 under the banner “An Evening With: Bright Eyes, Jim James and M. Ward,” insiders referred to the tour as “Monsters of Folk.” The name stuck, and now the quartet have announced an official release under the moniker: their self-titled album is due September 22nd.

Finally some sounds to round
Finally some sounds to round out the months of vague news reports and website launches for Monsters Of Folk, the project that brings Yim Yames + M. Ward + Conor Oberst + Mike Mogis to one set of liner notes. On the back of just this one track, Monsters Of Folk are more like Monsters Of Misleading Band Names; there's little folk at play in "Say Please," the project's lead MP3.

On a hazy mid-August morning
On a hazy mid-August morning at the swanky Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica, California, indie rock royalty Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward and Mike Mogis -- who have gathered to promote their new band, Monsters of Folk -- are nestled on a mustard-colored couch in a quiet room with all-yellow vintage decor that resembles a set from a Stanley Kubrick film. At the moment, however, their concerns are based in hard reality.

"Baby Boomer" could even be
"Baby Boomer" could even be a younger generation's "Teach Your Children", with its emphasis on standing "a little closer to the lessons we have learned", while the way "friends and heroes are packin' up and movin'" in Ward's "Whole Lotta Losin'" echoes the fin de siècle mood of Carole King's Tapestry.

Even when music is notated
Even when music is notated precisely, there are still many decisions that a performer has to make. The process of a performer deciding how to perform music that has been previously composed and notated is termed interpretation.
