Originally released as the 90s were drawing to a close, Mogwai's second album 'Come On Die Young' was issued as the music industry struggled amidst the ashes of Britpop.
In reaction to this, the Glasgow group offered what still ranks as one of their most influential documents. From that famed Iggy Pop sample on 'Punk Rock' to the dying embers of 'Punk Rock/Puff Daddy/Antichrist' it remains one of their defining releases.
As guitarist Stuart Braithwaite intimated to Clash earlier this year, 'Come On Die Young' is set to be re-issued in time for its 15th birthday.
Packaged as a 2-CD / 4-LP set, the original recordings will be spruced up and presented alongside a host of extras. Expect demo versions, rarities and the odd - very odd - curveball.
For now, here's the Cava Session version of 'Ex-Cowboy':
'Come On Die Young' will be re-issued through Chemikal Underground on June 16th.
